What to Expect

Treatment Time

Appointments typically take 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Treatment involves a series of injections using a fine needle or cannula.

When Will I See Results?

Results are often visible immediately, although the treated area may initially appear swollen. As swelling settles, the final result will become clearer over the following days and weeks.

How Long Does It Last?

The longevity of dermal filler varies depending on the product, treatment area, individual metabolism and lifestyle. Results can typically last 6–18 months, depending on these factors.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is some potential downtime with dermal filler. Swelling, tenderness, redness and bruising are common, particularly in areas such as the lips.

Most clients can return to their normal activities, but I recommend allowing time for any swelling or bruising to settle.

Does Filler Hurt?

A topical or local anaesthetic may be used depending on the treatment area and product. Most modern dermal fillers also contain lidocaine to help improve comfort during treatment.

Before Your Event

If you're having dermal filler before a wedding, holiday or special occasion, I recommend allowing at least 2-4 weeks beforehand, depending on the area being treated.

This gives swelling and bruising time to settle and allows the final result to develop.

What Are the Risks?

As with any injectable treatment, dermal filler carries potential risks and side effects. These can include swelling, bruising, tenderness, redness, asymmetry and infection.

Rare but serious complications can occur, including vascular occlusion. Your suitability, risks, benefits and alternatives will be discussed fully during your consultation and consent process.
