Treatment Time

Appointments typically take around 45 minutes, depending on the treatment and area.

Is it really fish sperm or salmon sperm?

Yes, but not quite in the way you might think!

Polynucleotides are highly purified DNA fragments, commonly derived from salmon or trout DNA. The DNA is extensively purified and processed before being used in the injectable treatment, so you are not being injected with sperm.

These DNA-derived molecules are used for their potential regenerative and biostimulatory properties. They can support the skin's natural repair processes and may help stimulate fibroblast activity, extracellular matrix remodelling and collagen production, contributing to improvements in skin quality, elasticity, hydration and texture.

Where can I have Polynucleotides?

Almost anywhere on the face and body where improving skin quality is the goal.

Common treatment areas include:

  • Face

  • Around the eyes

  • Neck

  • Décolletage

  • Hands

  • Areas of compromised or ageing skin

Your treatment plan will help determine which areas are likely to benefit most. I will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and goals, and recommend the most appropriate product and treatment areas for you.

Do Polynucleotides add volume like filler?

No.

Polynucleotides are primarily a skin-quality and regenerative treatment, rather than a volumising treatment. They are designed to improve the condition and quality of the skin rather than change your facial shape or add significant volume.

How many treatments will I need?

For polynucleotides, I generally recommend a course of 3 treatments, spaced approximately 2–4 weeks apart.

The exact treatment plan will depend on your skin, the area being treated and your individual goals.

Results develop gradually, so the aim is to progressively improve your skin quality throughout the course rather than expect an immediate transformation.

When Will I See Results?

Results develop gradually and vary between treatments and individuals. More gradually than skin boosters. This is regenerative medicine so results build over the treatment course and beyond. You may however notice improvements in skin quality in the weeks following treatment, with results continuing to develop.

Is There Any Downtime?

Downtime is generally minimal. You may experience temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or small raised areas at the injection sites. Bruising is also possible this can last up to 2 weeks.

How Long Do Results Last?

Results vary between individuals and depend on factors such as the treatment area, skin condition and treatment plan. Typically results should last 12-18 months.

A course of treatments is usually recommended for the best results, followed by maintenance treatments where appropriate.

What's in each Polynucleotide treatment? And what do I practice with?

Although PLINEST, PLINEST EYE and NEWEST are all polynucleotide treatments, they have different concentrations and formulations. This is one of the reasons I tailor the product to your skin and the area being treated.

PLINEST

40 mg PN-HPT™ per 2 mL syringe
Concentration: 20 mg/mL

PLINEST contains highly purified polynucleotides (PN-HPT™) and is the higher-concentration formulation in the range. It is designed to support skin regeneration, elasticity and overall skin quality.

PLINEST EYE

15 mg PN-HPT™ per 2 mL syringe
Concentration: 7.5 mg/mL

PLINEST EYE contains a lower concentration of polynucleotides and has been specifically formulated for the delicate skin around the eyes. It is designed to support improvements in peri-orbital skin texture, firmness and elasticity.

NEWEST

20 mg PN-HPT™ + 20 mg hyaluronic acid per 2 mL syringe
Concentration: 10 mg/mL PN + 10 mg/mL HA

NEWEST combines polynucleotides with linear, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. This provides a combination of regenerative skin support and additional hydration.

Why does the concentration matter?

More isn't necessarily better.

Different concentrations and formulations are designed for different treatment areas and skin concerns. For example, the delicate skin around the eyes requires a different formulation from the skin of the face, neck or décolletage.

That's why I don't use the same polynucleotide product for everyone.

Your choice of PLINEST, PLINEST EYE or NEWEST will be based on your skin condition, treatment area, skin goals and my clinical assessment.
